Son of Jack Cheek and Caroline Murray, per death certificate but on an old census report it has Caroline married to a John Murray. Ned's birth year is also unknown for sure since every piece of paperwork has a different date.

Served in the 5th U.S. Colored Troops during Civil War.

Well Known Colored Man Dead

Ned Murray, who was seventy years old, well known to many citizens of Adair County, died at his home, on Campbellsville Pike, this side of the Cheatham Bridge, last Wednesday night. He had been on the decline for several months and his death was not unexpected. He was buried near his late homee Thursday afternoon, a fraternal lodge of which he was a member, officiating.
