DEATH OF CLYDE GARLOCK
Clyde Garlock, son of Mr. & Mrs. H.W. Garlock, died at Cestos, Oklahoma, Mar. 31, at the age of 20 years, 5 months and 18 days.
He had been driving four mules and as he jumped from the wagon, his overcoat blew up and frightened the mules and they started to run. He ran in front of them and caught them by the bridal, endeavoring to stop them, when they swung around and one of the mules reared up and struck him with it's front feet and knocked him down. The mules trampled him and two wheels of the wagon passed over his body, breaking his back and injuring him eternally. The accident happened about four o'clock in the afternoon and he lived until shortly after midnight. He was conscious all of the time and realized from the first that he could not recover.
Mr. Garlock was to have been married Apr. 5 to Miss Emma Flood, and he was preparing to move to Colorado when the accident occurred.
Funeral services were held at Cestos, Oklahoma, Sunday, Apr. 2, and was in charge of by the Mason and I.O.O.F. lodges of which he was a member.
The deceased was a nephew of G.J. Garlock of La Plata and is well known here, having lived here until about nine years ago.
