He was preceded in death by two sons, J.D. Boatner Jr. and David Boatner; one daughter, Sharon Boatner; two brothers, Larry Boatner and Jimmy Boatner; and one sister, Everdean Woods.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Vera Boatner; five sons, Elmer Boatner and Mark Boatner, both of Dermott, Eligha Boatner of Beloit, Wis., Herman Boatner of Pine Bluff and Jerry Boatner of Dallas; four daughters, Ferris Joe of El Dorado, Ruby Washington and Eula Hameth, both of Dermott, and Levera Boatner of Dallas; two brothers, J.B. Boatner of Dermott and Willie Boatner of Beloit; three sisters, Inella Compton of Alamogordo, N.M., Sarah Courtney of Dermott and Rosie Grice of Shreveport, La.; 22 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
