aka. JOE Cook Pendleton died at 6yrs 18 days of Rabdomayo sarcoma cancer. We called him JOE, because that is what he wanted to be called. He wanted his name changed to Joseph Edward Pendleton. He didn't get old enough to do that. Joe was wise beyond his years, as are most kids that know they are dying. Joe was loved by many and will never be forgotten. in Salem, Oregon the Pompous Twits Anonymous group started by LB Day and Ron Blankenbaker was started with Joe. After the surgery that took his right eye, he told me he had been holding Jesus' hand and wanted to stay longer but the drs. and nurses wouldn't let him. He was only 2 3/4, i just told him they didn't understand. while in the hospitals he would sing to all the patients, "God Will Take Care Of You" He is buried beside his Grand parents LeRoy and Sarah Breakfield in Coos Bay, Oregon. When Joe's sister Heather Lynnette Pendleton died some of her ashes were placed on his grave as well.

Mourn no More
We mourned for him before he died,
We cried for all his pain.
We cried in all the hospital waiting rooms,
time and time again.
We cried for over three long years,
To mourn his death, you see.
We cried for him and all of us,
And the things that would not be.

So please don't say that we must mourn,
Or feel sorrow or angry now.
No longer does he face the staring eyes,
Looking at his deformity.
No longer the doctors, the shots, the pain,
No longer the surgeries.
Please don't try to pattern us by books,
Or rules, or thoughts.
No longer must we feel his pain, or weep,
For now,
HE IS FREE.
