Thurman Peter Henson was the second born of James Thomas and Emma Margaret Hocker Henson's 10 children. He was named for his grandfather, Peter Hocker.Thurman was 28 years old at the time of his death, a farmer by occupation. He was never married.

According to family members he had TB of the bone. The official diagnosis on the death certificate is Necrosis of the bone in the right leg. Necrosis can be defined thusly:
A type of tissue death in which all cellular outline is lost and tissue appears crumbly and cheeselike, usually seen in tuberculosis.

A secondary cause is given as surgical shock.

He was much loved by his family and sorely missed.
