Born June 26, 1949 in Darlington County he is the son of Betty and Heyward Gainey. Larry enjoyed carpentry, loved his dogs and was always willing to help others. He was employed by Nucor Steel.
Surviving are his daughter, Amy (Troy) Blanks of Lexington, a son, Larry S. Gainey, Jr. of Darlington, three grandchildren: Darien Nicole Gainey, Ashley Blankenship, Sierra Gainey; and a brother, Heyward Gainey, Jr.
