Olivia Angel Grace Tremont, daughter of Kenny & Kathi Tremont, was true to her name, she was AN ANGEL!!
At 4 months old, Olivia was diagnosed with congenital heart disease and a rare lung disorder called Primary Alveolar Failure. She died ON Aug. 7, 2001 at the age of 2.
During her short life and despite many Dr. visits, surgeries and her need for oxygen, Olivia remained vibrant, happy and very energetic. Everyone who met her immediately fell in love with her.
During Olivia's illness, community emotion and financial support for the Tremont family was tremendous!!
I met Olivia and her family during our painful stay in Pittsburgh Children's Hospital. I was next to her loving mother when the Drs. told her mother the day they needed to take this sweet angel off life support. The next day, after her father arrived to be with her, I sat on the floor outside her door in the PICU while Kathi held this precious child and they removed her life support. Her mama begged her not to leave, but the angels took Olivia that day while in her mother's loving arms.
Throughout the years, Kathi & I have remained close. We lost Michelle 3 weeks later and when I have stumbled and fallen, Kathi has been there to pick me up and when she stumbles, I am there to pick her up.
We spent our first Christmas without our daughters together at her family's place in Florida. Kathi & Kenny paid for Phil & I to fly in and be together that year.
Through such tragic losses, Kathi & I have become "sisters" in the awful club of parents of lost children. I love and respect this woman with all my heart and soul! Never does a day pass I don't think of Olivia or her sweet mama.
Precious Olivia remains in the hearts and minds of EVERYONE who ever met her. She charmed people with that sweet smile.
But, the 1 thing we had in common, Kathi & Ken, Phil & I, is that both our precious daughters were adopted, wanted and loved beyond belief. God brought our families together and we are now in our 9th year of a loving friendship that nothing can ever break apart. We KNOW how each other feels, we know how each other hurts and forever and always, I will be there for Kathi the way she is always here for me.
Precious Olivia, Rest In Peace Sweet child. You are loved and missed beyond words.
