Mrs. Margaret M. Margeson, widow of the late John N. Margeson, died at 4:15 o'clock this morning at home at Alpha, of a complication of ailments, aged 67 years.
Express-Times September 21, 1922 page 2

Oral history, shared by a Margeson cousin, states that she was half Native American and that a lot of Native Americans relatives attended her funeral. He also states that two of his aunts told him of an Indian Princess being in the family tree. He was 8 years old when he attended his grandfather's funeral and he recalls a lot of Lenape Indians being present. Another Vanderbilt cousin also stated that she was told by her aunt, (the daughter of a Margeson who married a Vanderbilt), that someone married an Indian princess.
The Lenape tribe occupied New Jersey, so she was probably a Lenape. Her mother, Catharine Tappin Clawson, was thought to be full blooded Native American.

According to NJ Marriages 1678-1985 on FamilySearch.org:

John Margeson 25 years old
married
Malinda Clausen 18 years old
on June 18, 1873
in German Valley, Washington Twp. NJ (Morris Co.)
