"Word has been received by relatives of the death of Mrs. Jane Cole of Seaside. She was the aunt of Roy E. and Guy Cole of this community. Albert of Portland and Mrs. Rena Gubser of McMinnville. Burial was at Hopewell Tuesday.
Born at Harrisburg in 1863, she was left mother less at the age of 11 months. She and her two sisters were brought to Carlton by her father, James Galloway. They resided at Carlton and Yamhill for several years, and when she was 9 the family moved to a farm near Grand Island. In 1882 she was married to Jake Versteeg, who died in 1899. For several years she operated the switchboard at Dayton for the Datyon Telephone COmpany, and in 1912 was married to Frank Cole. They made their home at Seaside where he died in 1928.
Her sisters, Mrs. Mary Kees and Mrs. Hettie Stoutenburg, preceded her in death. Mrs. Lynn Gubser of this city was a neice. Mrs. Cole had spent a month visiting at the Gubser home here this spring."
