American Bass Player, Record Producer and Songwriter. He was most notable for his 1960s recordings as a member with Booker T. & the M.G.'s and as a session bassist for Stax Records, which specialized in blues and gospel-infused Southern soul and Memphis soul music styles. Dunn also performed on recordings with The Blues Brothers, Muddy Waters, Freddie King, Albert King, Neil Young, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave, Guy Sebastian, Rod Stewart, Bob Dylan, Roy Buchanan and Arthur Conley. He also appeared in movies including the 1980 hit classic musical "The Blues Brothers," where he played himself. In 1992, Dunn was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Booker T. & the M.G.'s. He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for his work with Booker T. & the M.G.'s. He died in his sleep in Japan on tour several days after falling while exiting a tour bus.
