Charles "Chuck" Bates was born to the union of the late Albert Bates and Ophelia Bates on August 7, 1947, in Chicago, IL. After her husband died, Ophelia remarried Minister James Calloway who helped to raise Chuck until he left home.
When Chuck left home he joined the military. He was a police officer in the U.S. Army; he retired in Leesville, LA where he remained until his death. Upon retirement form the military Chuck was employed with MWR at the bowling alley; where he continued to work until his health failed him.
He is survived by his two godsons of Leesville; nine goddaughters of Leesville and two special friends, Harold and Sun of Leesville.
Services were under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
