Uncle Dom was the sixth child born to Matteo and Josephine. He was a skilled Taylor and a muscian. He played the Saxophone with his brother Frank and Joseph in a band. He married Irma E. Contrucci on June 6, 1937 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Atco, NJ and had two sons. Matthew and Sonny.

DOMENIC R. ROMEO , 87, of Hammonton, died Sunday at William B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.

An accomplished violinist, Mr. Romeo formed and was the leader of a Big Band sound group that played in the Delaware Valley in the 1930s and 1940s. He also played at the Latin Quarters in Philadelphia and at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City.

He was a member of the South Jersey Musicians Union.

Mr. Romeo worked as a foreman at Kessler Clothing Company in Hammonton for 30 years. He also was a plant manager for Tanneytown Manufacturing Company in Tanneytown, Md., where he worked for 16 years before retiring.

Mr. Romeo was a graduate of Hammonton High School.

Born in Hammonton, he was a lifelong resident.

Surviving are his wife, Irma E.; two sons, Matt of Hammonton and Sontino of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Kathryn of Hammonton; and two grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church in Hammonton. Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hammonton.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. Third St., Hammonton.
