Fred Ambers Frederick Ignatius Ambers, 52 formerly of Hinton died unexpectedly March 28, 2005 in Matthews, North Carolina after a long struggle with heart disease and diabetes.

Born March 5, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of the late Joseph and Eleanore Ambers.

Fred was an avid sports fan and football player both in elementary school at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and junior high school in Carmel, Indiana, as well as at Saint Rita High School in Detroit, Michigan of which he was a 1971 graduate. He studied business four years at Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio and had a 25-year career in sales management for men's clothing and shoes. He was also an avid golfer and reader. Fred lived in West Virginia for 12 years, the first 5 in Hinton where he volunteered for Catholic Community Services Loaves and Fishes summer youth camp as well as for the National Park Service. He was a member of the Saint Patrick Catholic Church.

Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Joel Adam Ambers.

Survived by two sisters; Donna Ambers of Kihei, Maui with whom he was preparing to reside and Patricia Ambers Crawford and her husband Robin of Hinton, two brothers; Kenneth J. Ambers and his wife Jane of Sheffield Lake, Ohio and Philip J. Ambers of San Francisco. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Honoring his final wishes, Fred donated his organs and his body was then cremated. There will be a memorial service at a later date.

Those wishing to make donations in Fred's memory may make them to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association in his name.
