Jerry Goodall Allen, 76 of Oak Hill, formerly of Hinton died at 6:08 p.m. Friday January 14, 2011 in CAMC General Division in Charleston following a short illness.
Born February 10, 1934 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Harry and Nettie Wygal Allen.
Mr. Allen was a former electrician with Newport Trading Company in Shady Spring. He was a graduate of Hinton High School and was an U.S. Air Force veteran. He was formerly employed at the Hinton Fire Department and was a member of the Oak Hill Moose Lodge. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gerene Allen in 2001. Also preceded by one brother, Billy Allen and one sister, Ella Sue Allen.
Survivors include a son, Jerry G. "J.G." Allen of Glen Jean, WV. Three daughters, Shelly Allen Maxwell & husband Jeffrey of Newport, VT, Denise Bennett & husband Larry of Hinton and Lori Ann Allen of Oak Hill. One brother, Charles Allen & wife Shirley of Oak Hill. One sister, Ruby Marsh & husband Virgil of Bethesda, MD. Six grandchildren; Cole Allen, Terry Coletrain, Brian Maxwell, Christopher Allen, Geri Lynn Wheeler, Joni Neely and Justin Bennett. Six great grandchildren also survive.
At the deceased request, the body has been cremated and a private service will be held at a later date.
