Friendship is the most beautiful flower in the
garden of life.

Eric a very good friend of mine, he was a sunshine, and I mean a sunshine!! He had light blond hair, and the most beautiful blue eyes. He used to look like a California beach boy, except that he was a puertorican beach boy!! He was one of the 15 boys that participated in my sweet 15th (a chamberlain). Preparing for my party, rehearsals etc. he met another good friend of mine Wandy, and became boyfriend and girlfriend. Eric, Wandy, my boyfriend at the time, and myself would go everywhere we could think of in his red arrow, (he was a bit older than the rest of us, thus, he had the wheels!!.) He was such a fantastic person to be around, that regardless of where we were we all felt great just because we were with him. It was simply an adventure to hang around Eric.

He was so friendly, he never knew a stranger. Everyone knew him and was well liked and loved. Eric was always joking about something.. He was very sensitive, caring, loyal, and absolutely loved children. After graduating from high school Eric and Wandy got married, he enlisted in the army and moved out of the Island, for he was assigned to Fort Hood Texas. Soon after, I too moved out of the Island and lost contact with them.

Once, he came to me in a dream hugged me and said goodbye, with the most beautiful smile I've ever seen. At the time I didn't know what that meant, for I hadn't seen him in so long. Because of that beautiful smile he gave me, I felt more like he was saying hello rather than goodbye!! Later on, I found out that as they got the news that Wandy was expecting a baby, Eric had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukemia. He's only care, at the time, was that he wanted to live long enough to meet his child. God granted him that wish, for he met his daughter and enjoyed her for about 2 years. It was then that I understood that dream back in 1985, as I was pregnant with my second child. I know now that Eric came to me to say goodbye before he went to heaven. He remembered our friendship and how much we cared for one another, even if life took us through different paths. I want him to know that I never, ever forgot him, that I will do my best to honor him and keep his memory alive, for he was never forgotten!!
Sleep well dear friend
