Reuben was born in England to John & Elizabeth Bransgrove. He was baptized Oct 13, 1850. He married Susan Mary Jane Doman on Nov. 22, 1869. His only son John was born on Sep. 22, 1870 and baptized on Oct. 23, 1870. The baptisms and marriage all took place in the 600 year old Parish Church that is still being utilized today.

Reuben departed Liverpool, England on Feb 8th 1872 and arrived at Castle Gardens in New York on the SS Idaho, along with his father-in-law Thomas Doman, on Feb. 18 1872 at the age of 21. His father-in-law went on to live in Grant County, Indiana. There is no further record of Reuben after his arrival in the United States.

Reuben's wife remarried James Piner on Sep. 25th 1873 in Illinois, and at that time Reuben's only son was 3yrs 2days old. His son was given/took on the name Piner throughout his entire life.

It is unknown if Reuben is truly buried here. From his arrival on Feb. 19th 1872 there is no further accounting of Reuben in either the U.S., Canada, nor back in England. Family documents do not state what happened or when he actually died. A letter from Reuben's brother-in-law's wife, living in England in 1900, talks about communication between Reuben's son John Thomas and Rueben's brother James. Of interest is that of the second marriage of James and the birth of James's new son, in his old age.

As of January 2014, pages from Reuben's Great Grandmother's Bible have been discovered. The Bible shows an entry "Reuben Bransgrove died - 1872". The 1st conclusion at this time is that it appears that he may have gotten gravely ill during the long trip here and with no money, was buried at the Potters field. For that reason alone, this record has been added in his memory. It will be continuously updated as new information is unturned.

Again, this record has been added in his memory. He's not forgotten and many hours are still being spent to put the final story of his life and death together.
