FORT WORTH - Jack Bursey Cruse, 81, a beloved husband and father, went home to be with our Lord on Monday, April 23, 2001, after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral: at Castleberry Baptist Church. The Rev. Larry Cornell and the Rev. Bobby Green will officiate. Burial: Nelson Cemetery in Reno. Jack Bursey Cruse was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Reno. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an electrician at General Dynamics for 40 years and retired in 1986. He was a member of Castleberry Baptist Church for 33 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal.
Jack leaves one son: Homer and one daughter: Maggie.

MARRIED: OPAL ILETA HALBERT JUNE 20, 1945
My dad had the darkest red hair! He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunners mate First Class.
He was on numerous battleships. One of which was the USS Indianopolis. He was in Hawaii just before Pearl Harbor was bombed. His ship pulled out two days before the strike.

He was greatly talented. He could make almost anything. He had a green thumb! He really knew how to grow things. He loved to fish and hunt. He grew his own garden, and
my mom cooked and canned everything from it.
