He married Leota Dudley Smithson on Nov. 30, 1913 when she was 14 and he was 18. The marriage produced 17 children and lasted, until his death, 68 years later.
Their children were: Novie, Catherine, Lorraine, Ruth, Joanna, Dora, twin to Dorothy(died at birth), Dorothy, twin to Dora (died at abt. 7 days), Dolly, (died at birth) Audine, Orlena, Birdie, (died at birth) Shirley, (died at about 1 month) James, Jerry and 3 infants un-named.
He was a premo cement finisher. He worked on the Grand Coulee and Boulder dams. He was called out of retirement several times by companies that wanted his services.
Oswald chewed and loved the wrestling matches. He would get so excited, he would end up missing his spit can. Grandma Davis would really scold him. She was a very clean lady.
Oswald was a very strong man and was 'bucking' hay into his 70's.
When Oswald got to where he had to be put into a rest home, Leota went in with him and stayed at his side, caring for him, until he died.
He was my husband's grandfather.
