Elias was the s/o Ambrose and Nancy Adkins Gilpin. One of six children, he was born in Casey Co., KY. and soon after, the family, with others, moved to Boone Co., MO. When Elias was grown, he married Mary Edna Edwards on Oct. 18, 1865. Their six children were born in Boone Co. By 1893 they were living in Wynnewood, Garvin Co., OK. 1900 census lists them still there. This was the Chicasaw Nation at that time.
In 1903, while having dinner at his daughter, Theodosia's house, in Wanette, Elias choked on a piece of meat and died.
His headstone reads, "To him a place is given: with Him among the Saints in heaven." He is buried under a cedar tree, next to his wife.

He was my husband's Great Great Grandfather. (Barbara)
