Son of James Henry and Mary McKern Hammons, the 10th of 11 children born to them. He himself was the father of seven sons and two daughters. He was a Primitive Baptist Minister and farmer. He foretold of his death to his wife, Delilah. They are buried by two of their sons, Lee and Earl. Grandpa Hammons couldn't read or write but he could quote the bible, any chapter and verse. I've been told that he could stand and preach for hours. People said it was as if the Holy Spirit came over him. His children had great love and respect for him and their mother.
He was my great Grandfather.

Cause of death was Influenza.

Thank you Roger, for the kindness you have shown by taking not only this picture of my great grandfather's grave, but, in taking pictures, and posting them, of all the Hammons' buried at Sutter.
