J. Hudson Taylor was a Protestant Christian missionary to China, and founder of the China Inland Mission (CIM) (now OMF International). Taylor visited China 11 times and spent 51 years there. The CIM was responsible for bringing over 800 missionaries to China who witnessed 18,000 conversions to Christianity.
Taylor has been referred to by mission historian Ruth Tucker as one of the most significant Europeans to visit China in the 19th Century.
