The first time Malinda Ann Bookout seen Elisha John Brown was on the wagon train heading for their new home in Greene County, Missouri. He was driving the Brown's wagon when she seen him, she told her mother that he was the man she was going to marry. Her mother, Sarah Vaughn Bookout replied that she might want to get to know him first. They were married on October 05, 1848 one day after her 18th birthday. Her father was John Bookout.
