Norfolk - Martha Anne Hipps Davis, 77, of Norfolk, quietly left her life on earth January 2, 2012. Martha is predeceased by her husband of 48 years, O.B. Davis, and her son, Jon Davis. Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Kimberly D. Burrell, who was by her side at the end.
Known to her family as Anne, she is also survived by her sisters, Frances Parrish, Betty King, Alliene Warren and Sara Belles and her brother, James Thomas. Too numerous to name are the many treasured lifelong friends she took into her heart and kept in touch with for decades. She is already greatly missed by many.
In a career that spanned over thirty years, Martha was a teller who moved up the ladder to become one of the first female officers in the bank now known as Suntrust. When she retired as Assistant Vice President of Personnel, her unforgettable smile had touched thousands of lives.
Plans for a memorial celebration will be announced at a later date.
