William Kirk Clarkson passed away Wednesday November. 20 1946 at the age of 79 in a hospital at Hibbing, Minn., where he was confined for one week and five days. He had pneumonia and later complications developed.
He was born January 25, 1867 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Joseph Kirk Clarkson and Mary Elizabeth Smith.
He was married October 26, 1890 to Adoline Rebecca Bullock in Sullivan, (Moultrie County) Illinois.
To this union eleven children were born.
Charles Edmond Clarkson
of Medford [Wisconsin]; Robert Henry Clarkson of Sullivan, Indiana; William H., better known as Fritz, of Calumet, Minn., Clarence Benton Clarkson(Dick) of Withee [Wisconsin], Ida Mae(Mrs. Claude Mathews)of Terre Haute, Indiana, Grace, Mrs. Elmer Anderson of Stetsonville [Wisconsin] and Goldie, Mrs. Sig Rothmeier of Dorchester [Wisconsin]. One son preceded him in death and one whereabouts unknown. He is also survived by one brother Max Clarkson of Lynwood, California. He has forty three grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren.
William Kirk and Adeline made their home in Moultrie County and Fayette County, Illinois until 1902 when they moved to Sullivan County, Indiana. In 1916 they moved to Medford, Taylor County, Wisconsin, to the farm known as the Tuttle Mill place.
Later in 1930, they moved to Alvin, Texas.
In July 1940 they returned to Medford where they planned to celebrate their golden wedding in October, but his wife, Adeline, died September 17, 1940.
Since his wife's death he has been living with his son William H. Clarkson of Calumet Minn. while working as a flagman for the Great Northern Railroad during the summer months. In the winter months he would visit his children in Wisconsin, and then to Indiana to visit a son and daughter.
