Estimated birth 1773-1776,
and death between 1850-1860, Mercer county, WV.
Daughter of John & Susan Ballard Mullins.
Her father, John, was born ca 1740 in Virginia.
He served in Albemarle county with the Virginia Militia during the French and Indian War.
John was the son of
Matthew & Mary Maupin Mullins.
Matthew served with the American army during the Revolution.
Mary was the daughter of Daniel & Margaret Via Maupin.
See memorials # 68016810 & 68016834.

John & Susan had the following known children:

Matthew Mullins
John Mullins
Betsy Mullins
Mildred Mullins
--[Nancy Mullins md John Walker]
Sally Mullins
Mary Mullins md Gabriel Maupin

Nancy was married to John Walker, 1797 (date of the bond on file). Her brother John and his wife Milley gave consent.
Gabr. Maupin, bondsman on document, was her brother-in-law.
Clergy, Jacob Cook.

She was the mother of children who were a large part of the history of Mercer county, West Virginia. Three of her daughters married men of the Bailey family (Elizabeth, Mary, and Ursula). Her daughter Sarah married John Bowling, daughter Margaret married Jonathan Lilly & Josiah Meador, daughter Cynthia married Joseph Wright, and daughter Nancy married Edmund Hatcher. Her son Chrispianos married Eleanor Witten (Whitten) and son Charles married Rachel Karnes.**

John's will states "First of all, my just debts be paid out of any money or levied out of my personal property. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Nancy the whole of the household furniture, and one cow, such as she may choose, together with two Berkshire sows and six shoats, also forty dollars in money."

After the death of John, she was residing in the household of her son Charles (in 1850) at age 74. Her death date is not certain, have not found a record, but she died between 1850 and 1860.

ADDITIONAL Notes -
**There may be multiple marriages for some of them.
Photographs have been taken and contributed by descendants, thanks to all of you.
UPDATE, SUMMER OF 2016
The photographs on the memorial show the stones as they were. In 2016, the stones are knocked flat, presumably by cattle, and are not standing.

Of her children -

Sons John and James, born in Giles county, VA.
No further information.

Daughter Cynthia died in May of 1875, the informant was her son. She was 59 years old.
Cynthia was the informant on the entry for her husband. He died on 7 Nov 1867, also at age 59. Joseph was born in Tyrone, Ireland; the son of Francis and Elizabeth Wright. A child of Cynthia and Joseph named Virginia C. Wright, died 28 Nov 1857 of unknown cause, at 18 months of age, in Mercer county, WV. [The cemetery may be one that was badly vandalized, with most of the stones broken, more research is needed, I have no proof that they were ever there. A mention from a man who once maintained a number of graveyards in that county, that nearly every stone had been destroyed in a particular place; was a reply he sent by someone I knew - as a vague possibility. That place was not particularly near where their residence was written. I regret that I have no way to prevent other persons from lifting text from these memorials to make more with UNKNOWN designations entered into"cemeteries" which do not exist in reality; in truth there were several of these for John & Nancy. Misinformation ends up on their endless websites and trees. That being said, I think there are differing memorials for Joseph and Cynthia - these two have relatives linked if you would like to see them anyway.

These memorials for John and Nancy were previously done 30 Aug 2011, and were 75708595 & 75708657, for any who are confused by the dates. We think this improvement with the GPS and Google Map will bring them up more readily in searches, help with the location, and reduce the number of duplicates. By clicking on the line "John and Nancy Mullins Walker Burial" or the coordinates, that will take you to the map. To the best of my knowledge, there are no other burials there.
Thanks and credit to Mr. Griffith for the photographs, coordinates and assistance!
September 2019 : I notice that flowers have been added from newer members who also descend from ancestors they have in common with myself. Thank you for adding those, and remembering them. I have tried to add what I could find for earlier generations in hope that following generations might connect and carry on the work. It is interesting to see your additions. Good Luck ! aye ain't.
