My baby sister! She battled a lot during her short life. She was born with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome so she was not only the baby of the family, she was the 'baby" of the family :). She was married, had two beautiful girls, moved away for about 6 years and was then divorced. She moved back home and found out she had colon cancer and she battled that along with 7 surgeries over the next two years. Even with the chemo and surgeries, if she was not in the hospital, she never missed her daughters soccer games and broke/sprained many a bone skating, etc with her girls.

She was never really healthy again after her battle with cancer. She underwent 19 surgeries during her life. She developed heart disease about a year ago and in her already weakened body, spent a lot of time in bed. She developed pneumonia and her heart was not strong enough for that battle. Although the wonderful Doctors at Carolina's Medical Center did a fantastic job, she lost her long fought battle with her two sisters and one of her daughters by her side and her other daughter, who lives in Minnesota, on the phone held to her ear.

She loved to work in the yard and although her body wouldn't let her do all that she wanted, she had a beautiful rose garden. She also absolutely adored her 2 year old granddaughter, who added new life to her 'Nana' when she was born. She died as she lived - courageously and faithfully!

In addition to her parents, John and Laura Austin, she left behind a fiancee,
William Lucha Enix, Jr
two daughters, Beth (and her daughter, Bree) of the home and Carolyn, and her life partner, Ann of Minnesota. She also left behind 2 sisters, Janice Wade and Angie Melton, 1 brother, Butch Austin and 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sandy Alexander.

Life is just a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but we were never meant to stay.
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.

Heaven needed an angel!

Her favorite song and the one that her daughter sang at her memorial service is 'A Handful of Weeds'

♥ I can never thank Rick & Kathy enough for sponsoring Mary's memorial ♥
