His two youngest children, Florida Emmaline, one year, and Mary Virginia, one month, died of the bloody flux at the same time as Larkin did. Larkin was a big man, six feet tall and large of frame. Neighbors made a coffin large enough to hold him and the two babies. They were placed with him in the coffin, one on each arm. Later, these remains were moved from Lindale to the cemetery in Rome, where they lie now.
