Mary E. Deckhart, 85, of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011, at her son's home in Hillsdale. Born December 10, 1925 in Martling, Alabama, she was the daughter of Jesse and Eva (Mullinox) Strange. Mary enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, and building things, as well as fishing and being near the water. She also enjoyed cooking for everyone.
She is survived by 1 son – Larry (Kathy) Caldwell, Hillsdale; 1 sister – Dorothy Glover, Gunnersville, AL; 6 grandchildren – Lenore (Chris) Spahr, Hillsdale, Vicki (Jim) Cameron, Stryker, OH, Rita (Jim) McCoy, Litchfield, Jeff (Patrice) Caldwell, Reading, Casey (Shelly) Caldwell, Hillsdale, and LaMar (Beth) Ballinger, Jonesville; and 14 great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 4 brothers, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday at the George White Funeral Home, Reading, with Pastor Don Harkey officiating. Interment will follow in Church's Corners Cemetery, Wheatland Township. Visitation is scheduled Tuesday from 6-8 PM. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hillsdale County or to a charity of donor's choice
