Margaret Elizabeth Strange married Myrick Jones Carroll December 14, 1882 in Chattooga County, GA. They had 4 children: Leona Ann Carroll 1883-1884, Lillian Etna Carroll 1886-1980, Willis Hamilton Carroll 1888-1959, and Myrick Bascom Carroll 1891-1957. The family started for Texas in the fall of 1898. They took the train from Chattanooga, TN to Memphis, TN, and then bought wagons for the rest of the trip. They stopped in Prescott, AR and spent the winter of 1898-99 with relatives, Thomas and Amanda Storey and their family, so the children could attend school, and wait for warm weather. When spring arrived, the Carroll family resumed their journey to Texas, and were accompanied by the Storey family, who had also decided to move to Texas. They settled in Pittsburg, TX where the 2 families lived next door to each other. In her later years, after Myrick's death, Margaret lived with her son Bascom, and his family in Greenville, TX until her death.
