Bill was born on February 21, 1931 in Jackson to the late William & Martha Wheatley, Sr. He earned a bachelor's degree in animal husbandry from Mississippi State College. He retired from the Hinds County Health Department food inspection division.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lane Burkes Wheatley; and their three children, William Forsythe Wheatley, III, Andrew Seth Leo Wheatley and Mary Elaine Wheatley-Brown; and their five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church.
