A funeral Mass for Viola T. Koester of O'Fallon was celebrated today at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles. Burial was in St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Koester, 66, died Monday at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She was the mother of the late Sheriff Robert, who died in office in 1976.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 791.
Surviving are three daughters, Rosemary Ratliff of St. Charles, Evelyn Hoeckelmann of St. Paul and Joyce Koester of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Vincent E. of St. Paul; three brothers, Joseph Ross of St. Charles, Gilbert Ross of Wentzville and Paul Ross of Moscow Mills; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Masses are preferred for memorials.
