Mr. Allen was born September 15, 1933 at Wilson County, NC, the son of the late Albert Floyd and the late Edna Elizabeth (Smith) Allen. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired sales representative for Westinghouse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean S. Allen, a brother, George "Buddy" Allen and a sister Winniford "Billie" Blue.
He is survived by one daughter: Laurie Young of Beaumont, TX; one son: David Allen of Lumberton, TX; five sisters: Alice Hamilton of Mt. Gilead, Hazel Thompson of Troy, Peggy Moore of Greenville, Ruby McIntyre of Raleigh, Betty Lou Braddock of Atlanta, GA; one brother: Charles Allen of Trinity; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 stepdaughters: Julia Lingle and Christina Chamis, both of Greensboro, Eva Simcox of Kernersville; friend, Nicholas Chamis.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-9 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Troy, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Freeman officiating. Military graveside rites will follow at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC at 2:00 pm.
