Walter danced with Katherine Dunham for 5 years. He then danced with The Archie Savage Dancers in such movies as "The Glen Miller Story" (1953), "Carmen Jones"(1954)and "This could be the Night (1957)" in addition to theatre appearance in Los Angeles. In 1958 he toured Europe with The Archie Savage dancers. He did not return from the tour and made his home in Rome for a number of years. In Europe he formed his own troupe and travel all over Europe entertaining in night clubs. He returned to the United States in the 1972 and made his home in East St Louis, Illinois to teach the Dunham technique at Southern University at the request of Ms Dunham. After a long illness he passed away and was cremated as he had requested.
