The late Connie Bernice Lawson Walton was born March 24, 1912 to the union of George Kelly Lawson in Daingerfield, Texas.

At the age of 14, she accepted the call to Christ was baptized at the age of 10 and was teaching Sunday school by the age of 18. Connie relocated to Dallas Texas by the age of 20. She married Clarence Wakefield in 1946 and travelled around the country with her new husband and T-Bone Walker in the entertainment industry. To this union were born 3 children, George (1948) and Dean (1951) and Saundra (1952).

She attended school in Philadelphia receiving a Bachelors degree in Bookkeeping from Temple University. She began her Theological and Divinity education at the World Church School of Theology and completed her Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Theology and Divinity by 1957.

Connie's affiliation with the Church of God In Christ did not acknowledge female pastors in the 1950 which prompted her to initiate and implement The Faith of God Ministries under the Non-Denominational Faith. She opened the doors of a previously utilized movie theater on 54th Street and Central Avenue in Los Angeles, California, as the Pastor of her first church. She eventually moved from that location and continued to build ministries throughout the U. S., birthing many sons and daughters into the Ministry and the Body of Christ. She settled in Dallas, Texas, where she builds a small church from the ground up. She continued to purchase land surrounding that church with a vision to build entities that would eventually serve the needs of the community by offering services to the elderly as well as the youth of an economically challenged, drug riddled community. Connie Walton refused to take no for an answer, and so, she became a Trailblazer in her desire to serve God and the Community where God tasked her to intercede on behalf of the people. Romans 12:1 says, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." In her efforts to be a Good and Faithful Servant, presenting herself as a living sacrifice, to understand the plight and lives in this diminished community she built her home next door to the church. She explained that it wasn't enough to teach and preach to the people of this community but that it was important to share their experience in order to address their needs. She gave up the fabulous clothes for which she was known. She gave up the comforts of a safe secure home and neighborhood. She gave up the Cadillac's that she was accustomed to driving. Her faith in God was truly her source, her redeemer, her grace, her provider. Apostle Connie B. Lawson Walton was a Woman of God, a Woman of Conviction, a Teacher a Preacher, a Wife, a Mother, a Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, a Family Member, a friend, a Community Advocate, a Believer in Humanity and a Believer in Everlasting Life. II Corinthians 5:8 verifies this stating "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". Mom, we know you are present with the Lord and your spirit soars as your presence with the Lord will always reflect your life and deeds here on earth.

She served as an Apostle for Faith of God Ministries worldwide and passed at the age of 99.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Annie Kelly Lawson, he siblings, Oleri, Grady Curtis, Mary Lee and Hazel; her first husband Clarence Wakefield (1958), her second husband, Pastor Arthur Walton (2006); sons, George Wakefield and Dean Wakefield; and grandson, Miguel Andre Wakefield.

She leaves to mourn a daughter, Dr. Saundra Wakefield Davis (Rev. Bilson Davis II of Culver City, California stepson, Rudolph Wakefield (Emma); grandchildren, Dean Wakefield (Britni), Michelle Antoinette Wakefield, Marrischia Tennille Davis Elmore (Dwight), Mykeia Lalani Davis, Michaela Breyonna Davis, Malik Jones Wakefield, Tremece McVay Davis, LaTaneil Farley Davis; brother-in-laws, Talbert Walton; Donald Walton; and Ronald Walton; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and the True Word of Life Church Family.
