GREENSBORO, NC ~ Clarence W. Baliles, 88, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2007, at the Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Greensboro after a brief illness.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road, with burial to follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

Mr. Baliles was born October 9, 1918 to the late Daniel and Henrietta Baliles in Stuart, Va.

He served as a Gunner Mate 3rd Class in the United States Coast Guard aboard the Joseph F. Dickman during World War II.

Mr. Baliles was retired from Pfizer, Inc.

He was a lifelong member of the Sycamore Baptist Church in Stuart, Va. and a talented musician who enjoyed playing the guitar for others. In addition, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a devoted friend.

Surviving family include his beloved wife of 53 years, Ann Baliles; daughter Susan Judd and husband Benny; granddaughters Claire, Hannah, and Emily Judd all of Greensboro; brother Daniel Baliles of Stoneville; sisters Vada Branscome of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Velva Gunter of Ridgeway, Va.; other relatives and many friends.

His brother Claude Baliles preceded him in death.

The family will visit with friends Monday from 1 p.m. until service time at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests, if you wish, memorial contributions to the church of your choice or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
