Gale Gene Burton, 83, a resident of Jamestown passed away at his residence on Wednesday October 5, 2016. He was born April 24, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Gene served in the U.S Air Force from 1952 retiring in 1972 as a Tech. Sgt. During his career he served in Korea and Vietnam. After retirement from the Air Force, he moved to Jamestown where he worked with the Jamestown Postal Service from 1972 until he retired in 1994. Gene was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church.

He was married to Sybil Newton Burton who preceded him in death in 1994. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Collinge Hendrickson and his sister, Beverly Burton.

Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Burton of Greensboro, Susan Godwin of High Point; two sons, Steve Burton of Washington, DC, Robert Burton and wife Jem of Jamestown; grandchildren, Rob Burton, Alissa Cummings, Rebecca Burton, Ronnie Pierce, Chris Pierce, Jennifer Dobbertin, Samantha Pierce, Stephanie Pierce and great grandchildren, Logan Pierce, Reagan Pierce, Gale Pierce, Riley Dobbertin and Hannah Dobbertin.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery conducted by the Reverend Tom Latimer with Military Honors.
