The funeral service for Richard will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel. The interment will be at Guilford Memorial Park.
He was born in Guilford County February 27, 1939, to the late Thomas B. and Callie Howard Bunton. As an adult his childhood dream came true when he earned his commercial pilot's license. Richard was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Randleman, enjoyed wood-working and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Kirkman Bunton, of the home; children, Ricky Roberts (Deborah), of Kyle, Texas, Jo Anne Depriest (Bill), of Greensboro, Dean Roberts, of Pleasant Garden, Dee Bare, (Dan), of Pleasant Garden; sisters, Betty Bunton and Mary Reid, of Pleasant Garden; brothers, Raymond Bunton (Alice), of Thomasville and Butch Bunton (Bonnie), of Pleasant Garden. Also surviving are his devoted grandchildren James, Colton and Carley Roberts, Christina Smith, Leslie Turner, Brandy Depriest, Lindsey, Kaitlyn and Daniel Bare and great-grandchildren Brandon and Aftin Smith.
