A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, in Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, an umpire with the Amateur Softball Association and a member of North Peachier Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Myrtle Lee B.. Apple of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ray Sokolowsky of Cumming; son, Mark L. Apple of San Diego, Calif.; sister, Carolyn Loy of Greensboro; granddaughters, Lauren and Lindsay Sokolowsky of Cumming; niece, Cathy Mattox of Dacula; and nephew, Christ Grogan of Greensboro.
