Martha Bartlett married Orrin L. Gatchell in 1853 in Somerset County, Maine. They moved to Groveland, Massachusetts where two sons, William and George, were born in 1854 and 1856. The family then moved to a farm in Dunkirk, New York, where another son, Eugene, and a daughter, Alice, were born in 1858 and 1860. Following Martha's untimely death in 1861, Orrin married Eliza Ann Decker. After Orrin's service for the Union Army in the Civil War, Orrin & Eliza and the four children of Orrin and Martha settled in Erie, PA.
