Beverly Jean Douglas Dunham Nelson, age 69, died July 24, 2010 from complications of a pulmonary disease. Bev was born in North East, Pa. on Feb. 7, 1941 and graduated from North East High School in 1959. Beverly returned to live in North East in 2006, and formerly lived in Youngsville, Pa. for over 47 years. She is the daughter of Gene and Ada Hopkins Douglas of North East. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 35 years, Ralph W. Dunham in 1996, and a stepdaughter, Sandra Nelson Johnson. Beside her parents, Beverly is survived by her husband of eight years, Charles C. Nelson; son Douglas Dunham and his partner Joyce Gapinski; son Rev. Paul Dunham and wife Holly of North Carolina; daughter Debra and husband Jeffrey Backer of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and a stepson-in-law, Rick Johnson of Warren. She is further survived by a sister, Joanne Douglas Muscarella of North East; a brother John Douglas and wife Chris of North East, grandchildren Caitlyn and Alaina Backer and Nathan and Bethany Dunham; and nieces and nephews. Her faith was very important to her. The presence of the Lord was near to her heart. One of her favorite Scripture verses was Philippians 4:13 "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength." She was a longtime member of Evangelical United Methodist Church of Youngsville, and was currently again a member of the First Baptist Church of North East. She was a skilled seamstress and cake decorator and enjoyed knitting, reading, gardening, genealogy and puzzles. Beverly was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, grandmother, mother, daughter and sister. She was active in her Bible Study group and enjoyed socializing with friends, family and classmates. During her working career, she was employed by the New Process Co. in Warren, and by Dr. Philip Vance in Warren. She will be greatly missed by those who love her.
