Born in Hyannis, William Van Buskirk graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth High School in 1963 then from Bridgewater State Teachers College in 1967. He taught one year in the Falmouth school system and two years in Sandwich as an English and history teacher. Since 1971, he operated five local discount stores: the Hyannis Big A, Medi-Save in Vineyard Haven, Medi-Save in Falmouth, the Chatham Big A and the Eastham Pharmacy. He was a member of the Sandwich Teachers Association and Bridgewater State Alumni Association. (Bio by BobP).
