Born in Shiawassee County, Michigan in 1867 to Henry Cranston Bliven and Sarah Jane Baggerly, George was the middle son of 5 children. His parents were originally from New York State and moved to Michigan in 1867, His father was a Farmer, owning land in Atrium.

George was married twice.

He married Eliza Frye, daughter of John and Barbara Frye on 17 Jan 1900. Unfortunately, she passed away on 14 May 1922.

George next married Amelia Frazier on 16 May 1923. Eventually George and Amelia settled in Florida.

Although George has a headstone next to his first wife in the Union Plains Cemetery, he is actually buried next to his 2nd wife Amelia in Oak Hill Burial Park in Florida.
