Betty was born in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of Albert and Mildred Seymour Greene. She lived in LaFayette, NY for 28 years.

Betty was a graduate of Vocational High School in 1939, where she was Vice President of her senior class. She was active in the Valley Little League Auxiliary, Southern Hills Garden Club, the LaFayette Senior Citizens Group, Community General Hospital Volunteers, the Women's Group at St. Joseph's Church in LaFayette, and a former member of Tanner Valley Golf Club. She also volunteered at the LaFayette Public Library. Her passion was being a homemaker for 60 years.

Betty will be remembered for her devotion to her family and many friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert James "Bob" Mahaney in 1986; a sister, Mildred Pannenborg; and a brother, Albert Greene.

Betty and Bob were the parents of five sons: Tim, Mike, Kevin, Brian and Jim. They had eight grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Betty and Bob were married on January 16, 1942.
She was a wonderful person, always cheerful and upbeat, and ready to volunteer her time.I know she often visited the nursing homes in the area and provided many kind services for patients there who otherwise would not have had them done.
