Helen J. (Mazur) Wolek, aged 91, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully in the arms of her family Tuesday evening. Born in Syracuse, she graduated from Vocational High School. She was employed by General Electric as a lab technician, retiring in 1974. She was a communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and a member of the Polish Heritage Club. Helen was very devoted to her community and her parish. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, and traveled extensively, visiting Europe and Asia repeatedly. She was an active participant in the Onondaga Hill Senior Center. Her life and the church's were long entwined, and while she may have loved to go abroad, she was always glad to come back home. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, Henry, in 1979, with whom she ran Hank's Cafe for many years. Survivors: a daughter, Janice Wolek of FL; three sons, Gary of Syracuse, Ronald (Janet) and Brian (Patricia), both of FL; three grandchildren, Ronald Harold, Janelle Helen and Jackson Brian. Services: 9 a.m. Tuesday at GIMINSKI-WYSOCKI FUNERAL HOME; 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Geddes. Friends may call upon the family Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m., 1320 W. Genesee St. Donations may be made in Helen's name to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roof, 927 Park Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204.
