Army Spc. Johnathan B. Chism, 22, of Gonzales, La.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; died Jan. 20 in Karbala, Iraq, from wounds sustained when his patrol was ambushed while conducting dismounted operations. Also killed were Lt. Jacob N. Fritz, Pfc. Shawn P. Falter and Pvt. Johnathon M. Millican. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William J. Snelson Sr.; paternal grandmother, Jewel Chism; and uncles, Rex and Billy Chism. The Army presented his family with posthumous awards of the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Combat Action Badge. Four other's died in the same attack. They are, Lieut Jacob Fritz , Pfc. Shawn Falter , Pfc. Johnathon Millican and Capt. Brian Freeman
