Herbert G. Maas, 75, 2109 River St., Merrill, died at 6 o'clock this morning in his home after a month-long illness.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. James Murray will officiate, and burial will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery, Racine. Friends may call at Taylor Funeral Home, Merrill, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, and at the church Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the hour of services.

Mr. Maas was born June 20, 1894, in Merrill, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Maas. [He was married to Alice "Pauline" Reinson in 1923 but they subsequently divorced.] On December 28, 1949, he was married to Rose E. Pittelkow, who survives. He was a World War I veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, and a member of Schmitt-Manecke-Donner Post 1638, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors, besides his wife, include a son, Conway, Milwaukee; three brothers, Oscar, Milwaukee, Reuben, Springfield, Ore., and Arnold, Westfield; three sisters, Mrs. Selma Masser, Schofield, Mrs. Emma Ebert, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Priscilla Latzig, Westfield; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
