Louis Filler -

One of the Early Pioneers has Passed to the
Great Beyond.

Louis Filler, one of the early pioneers
of Union county, died at his home one
mile east of New Dover on Sunday evening,
aged 83 years, 9 months and 25
days. He had been a sufferer from
lung trouble for some time and this,
together with his extreme old age,:
brought about the end.
Lewis Filler was born in Loundoun
county, Virginia. He came to Marysville in
1834, and worked for one year
at carpentering, then went to Union
township where he married, and later
settled in Dover township, where he
purchased some land which was all in
woods. Mr. Filler was thrice married,
his second wife being Mrs. Elmiria Irwin.
He was always a prominent and respected
citizen of the county, serving
four terms as township trustee, and
taking ah active interest in all public
affairs. He helped to organize the Mt.
Herman Methodist church and for
several years past was the only surviving
charter member.
Funeral services were held today at
his late home, in charge of Rev. Fullerton
of Delaware, who is pastor of the
Mt. Hermon congregation. Interment
at the church cemetery
