June C. Ames, 83 of 309 Miller Ave. Hinton died Friday December 16th, 2016 at Summers County A.R.H. Hospital in Hinton following an extended illness.

Born April 22, 1933 at Meadow Creek, WV she was the daughter of the late Jesse T. and Daisy Garten Cales.

June was an honor student at Sandstone High School and was salutatorian of her graduating class. She was also a cheerleader at Sandstone High. She was retired from the Federal Prison Camp at Alderson, having worked as a correctional officer. June was an active member of the Hinton Church of Christ and enjoyed meticulously caring for her yard and flowers at her home.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Cales Stamper.

Survivors include a son, Michael Fleshman and wife Theresa of Hinton. One sister, Joy Cales Allen of Monmouth Junction, NJ. Special friend and caregiver, Ann Jackson of Hinton. Several nieces, nephews and cousins along with her loving dog, Katie and loving cat, Anna.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday December 19, 2016 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Minister Walter Dekle officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Palllbearers will be; Red Jones, Gary Browning, Bob Bennett, Dick Bragg, Jake Allen and Butch Honaker. Honorary pallbearers will be; Clark Perkins, Guy Ray, Lewis Bragg and Jim Gill.
