COVINGTON, Va. — Melissa Jones Browning, 33, of Covington, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 4, 1973, in Alleghany County, Va., a daughter of Orville Kenton and Linda Susan Hicks Jones of Covington.
Missy was a graduate of Alleghany High School where she was a member of the band. She was a waitress at the former Holiday Inn in Covington and formerly was phlebotomist at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor, Va., and the Robert C. Byrd Clinic at Lewisburg. She was a member of Church of Christ in Hinton.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Michael S. Browning; her daughter, Kristen M. Rose of Covington; her son, Kendall S. "Scotti" Browning of Covington; a brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Denise Jones of Covington; father-in-law, Gary B. Browning of Jumping Branch; a sister-in-law, Minnie Graham and her husband, Brian, of Jumping Branch; nieces and nephews, Brittany Wykle and Harley Graham, both of Jumping Branch, and Khai Jones, Londyn Jones and Landen Jones, all of Covington.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Arritt Funeral Home Chapel, Covington, with John McCain officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.
Friends may pay their respects any time at the funeral home.
The family will receive their friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
