Odessa Lee "Dessie" Gill, 80, of Tug Creek Road, Hinton, died Thursday morning, May 16, 2002, at Springfield Center, Lindside, following a long illness.

Born May 23, 1921, in Pipestem, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Rosalie Hill Wills.

Mrs. Gill was a lifelong resident of Summers County. She was a 17-year employee of Summers County Hospital, where she retired as a nurse's assistant. She was a member of Hinton Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, William Gill; and two brothers, Bill and Hobert Wills.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, John Estil Gill; a son, James "Jim" Gill and his wife, Ann, of Tug Creek; a daughter, Bernice Allen and her husband, David, of St. Albans; six brothers, Luther Wills of Hinton, Earl Wills and wife, Decredia, of Martinsburg, Bobby Wills and his wife, Juanita, of Winston-Salem, N.C., Kenneth Wills and his wife, Carol, of Hinton, Donald Wills and his wife, Drema, of Reidsville, N.C., and Raymond Wills of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Phillip, Jennifer, and Jonathan Allen, and Adam, Ashleigh, Amanda, John and Shawn Gill; and four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Dusty, Gage and Alex.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18th. at Hinton Church of Christ with Fred Dinkler and John McCain officiating. Burial followed in Upland Cemetery, near Hinton.

Pallbearers were Ray, Douglas, and Timmy Gill, Ricky and Doug Wills, and Bobby Cales.
